I was researching information in the one-click relief center on a different topic. When I saw an article entitled “sea bathers eruption”. With a title like that, I had to read on.
Sea bathers eruption is the rash that appears after you’ve been stung by marine life larvae. It is also called sea lice, sea poisoning or ocean itch.
I’ve been stung by a jellyfish in North Carolina in the ocean and it hurts! Sea anemone stings also cause this condition. Reactions could include rash, nausea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, pinkeye or urethritis (inflammation of the urethra which carries urine from the bladder out of the body).
As with any bug bite, try not to itch. Shower, and change your clothes immediately. If your system handles the medication, take antihistamine. Relive the itch symptoms by using ice packs or Aveeno baths.
If the rash doesn’t improve after a week, see your physician.
